The Brief
When Pocket shut down, it left a gap: most read-later apps have become social feeds with algorithms, recommendations, and retention loops. What was missing was the opposite – a queue and a reader, nothing more, without holding your library hostage.
My Approach
Built as an in-house product: paste a URL or save via the Chrome extension, and the article lands in your queue. The reader strips ads, popups, and cookie walls, and sets the text at a sane measure. Highlights stay with the article; tags and archive keep the library in order. The Pro tier adds semantic search and automatic tagging via Claude. Everything exports to JSON at any time.
The Outcome
A read-later app that gives attention back instead of demanding it – with an export button that's meant seriously. Unlimited saves for free, Pro for search and AI features.
About the Project
Readden is an in-house product by mediapuls, built for everyone who – after Pocket shut down – wanted their reading list back rather than another platform.
It deliberately does very little: save, read, keep. No feed deciding what surfaces, no collections to maintain. What’s left is a clean reader – and a full JSON export, so the library can be taken elsewhere at any time.
