From a WordPress page builder to a fast Astro site — mentoring by the mountain lake.
The Brief
Regina Koller-Zoller guides people through holistic energetic mentoring — since moving to the Wägital, as walks along the mountain lake. Her previous site ran on WordPress with Elementor: 12 MB to load, an 89-second video that never showed the lake, and neither an imprint nor a privacy policy.
My Approach
Rebuilt as a static Astro site on Vercel. The visual language her clients recognise — the green, the wave shapes, the monogram — stays, but properly built: self-hosted fonts instead of third-party requests, contrast ratios calculated rather than guessed, content separated from layout. Reviewing the footage revealed that the usable shots only start after second 50; the homepage now carries the sequence with the lake in it.
The Outcome
The site loads 1.6 MB instead of 12 and scores 98 out of 100 on mobile performance. Imprint, privacy policy and structured data for local search are all in place. Consulting, design, development and hosting all included.
About the Project
Regina Koller-Zoller works in Innerthal by the Wägitalersee. Her offering is called Bergklarheit: mentoring that happens on the move by the lake rather than across a desk.
The old site did not carry that. It dated from when sessions still ran over Zoom, and its hero video showed almost nothing but haze over dark mountains. The relaunch turns that around: the place is the offering, so the place carries the site.
Technically nothing of WordPress remains. No plugin maintenance, no cookie banner, no third-party requests on page load — the analytics work without cookies. What remains is the visual language her clients recognise.
